Welcome to Crete Cohousing Village, a partnership between Domisi Development and Greek Village Cohousing and its members- people who value meaningful connections with neighbors and living more sustainably. Cohousing is Community -led, Values-led, and Design-led.
Community-Led: It all starts with a community of inspired people who come togetether IN ADVANCE and choose each other—an "intentional community" is born! The community bonds over creating their village together and those who commit to community reap its rewards.
Values-Led: This is a community shaped by shared values-- you can find our shared values HERE. We seek to live more purposefully, supporting one another, and modeling a sustainable, joyful lifestyle.
Design-Led: Thoughtful, human-centered design choreographs moments of connection, promotes shared resources, and embraces the beauty of the surrounding environment.
Here in Crete, the essence of cohousing—close relationships, shared resources, and sustainable living—comes together with the island’s extraordinary natural beauty, rich culture, and relaxed Mediterranean lifestyle. Our Developer
Stavros Kapetanakis is a distinguished civil engineer and architect, renowned for his contributions to Greece's real estate and construction sectors. He is the founder and CEO of Domisi Development, a company celebrated for its high-quality construction, architectural design, and harmonious integration with the natural environment. Mr. Kapetanakis began his career designing and constructing properties for other owners. However, his innovative ideas and unique construction methods often faced limitations due to differing client preferences. This realization led him to establish Domisi Development in 1999, enabling him to bring his visionary concepts to life. Under his leadership, Domisi Development has expanded beyond its Cretan origins, offering a diverse portfolio of properties throughout Greece. The company has constructed over 400 detached houses across Crete, each reflecting a commitment to quality and client satisfaction. Mr. Kapetanakis emphasizes the importance of combining technical expertise with authentic Cretan hospitality and high-standard accommodation services. This philosophy has been instrumental in the company's success, attracting clients from across Europe seeking a safe and friendly lifestyle away from the stresses of modern living. In addition to property development, Domisi Development offers a comprehensive range of services, including real estate sales, rental management, and consulting. Evi Gerou (Pare)
Evi Gerou (also knows as Pare in the US), is our Community Founder and Cohousing Project Lead. She has dedicated herself to combining her passion for Greece with her passion for cohousing to create Greek Village Cohousing. With Greek roots, experience living in cohousing, and over a decade of acquiring the unique and idiosyncratic foundation of knowledge to fuel this pioneering type of development in Greece, she leads and consults with budding groups aspiring to create cohousing in Greece. Evi’s professional background is as an attorney specializing in human rights, refugee, and asylum law. She developed a refugee legal aid and immigration clinic as well as a refugee resettlement agency. True to the spirit of cohousing, her career in refugee work was motivated by dedication to providing a place and tribe to to. As Evi holds the project as a whole and moves it forward in collaboration with the developers, the cohousing members utilize sociocratic governance to weave the village social fabric and norms. They utilize sociocracy to create the village policies that govern how they live together; they create the vision and shared values that are the foundation of those policies and that define the village, and they enjoy planning fun tours and trips to Greece as well as the various elements of the physical village they will soon inhabit. They design every aspect of their village in a way that reflects their collective vision and values. Soon, they will plan the wonderful meals cooked together the Greek way and eaten on our beautiful plateia overlooking the Taygetos mountains. They also will enjoy planning and being part of our many celebrations -- celebrating early and often is the Greek way and makes our village a joyful place to live.
